"No he won't!" Vanitas almost yells this, in comparison to the low snide tone he was using. It surprises him a bit. "He never does!" He tries to reel it back like an ice-skater trying to correct in the middle of a fall fists deliberately unclenched. "So take your bandages and stick them, I didn't ask for your stupid help." What would bandages even do, for this? There's nothing that can be done or has ever been done, Vanitas's brain neatly gliding over Aqua's determined persistence in maintaining ties.
At least he's getting reactions out of Ventus. That makes it almost worth it. Everything Vanitas blames himself for, he can also blame Ventus for. Especially Ventus for, probably, it was probably his utter naivete that got them into this mess in the first place. Vanitas is increasingly convinced of this. Ventus's stupid face riposte is a crit and strikes a deep nerve.
"Well you've seen who I am, are you happy now? I don't want to see you!" This is a lie. He starts laughing and it's awful and unhappy - nobody told Ventus not to come huh, perfect golden boy - and then his breath catches and he doubles over hacking and coughing, because that was kind of a bad idea given his ribs. He manages to get the next sentence out through wheezing and long desperate intakes of air, both hands braced on the bed now. "You've done nothing but make everything worse."
